An outdoor bar/beer garden type of setup ready for hosting a ton of people as they walk around babysitting mini souvenir beer glasses and taking it easy on a Saturday.
The DJ is pumping insane tunes as tourist ships and helicopters land and take off.
Oh, wait, let’s not forget the breathtaking views of the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridge – and, of course, the main reason of making the way down here – the beer!
The New York Super Craft Beer Festival at Watermark Bar on Pier 15, presented by the Union Beer Distributors and Merchant’s Hospitality’s Watermark Bar was kind enough to bring together 75 super crafts from near, far and wide and provide the perfect definition of FUN, on a weekend afternoon.
These included SixPoint Brewery, Southern Tier Brewing Company, GreenPoint, Bronx, Ommegang, Flagship Breweries and many more.
Let’s not forget the various food vendors, including delicious bites from Watermark Bar’s menu – keeping the belly full and balanced during the tasting.
IPA’s, Lagers, distinct flavored beers (Blueberry Ale and RastaFye Ale from Blue Point Brewery was out of this world), Jammer and Sweet Action also made their way to the most wanted and favorite list too – and of course can’t forget about the ciders from Naked Flock, and Original Sin, topped the list all.
There was something for everyone to enjoy!
Sadly, all good things must end. However, since some of us couldn’t relate to the memo that it was time to go home, the DJ decided to extend his stay and hypnotize us more with his music.
Thank you, NY Super Craft Beer Fest in abundance for the entertainment and good memories from Saturday.
The New York Super Craft Beer Festival is New York’s best waterfront beer festival of the summer. The 2015 event happens July 11th at the Watermark Bar on Pier 15.
The festival will feature over 75 beers. We only expect that number to grow with future events.
As you might expect, much of the festival focuses on the emerging New York craft beer scene.
Our partner in this event, Union Beer is well-known as the go to for exclusive and rare beers, one-offs and special firkins.
Since brewers never know when beers will be ready, we always release the beer list about one month before the event.
Plenty of food is always available from one of our many food vendors. And while you eat, be sure to listen to music that play as you taste craft beer with amazing views of New York at our 3,500 square foot venue featuring the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and Brooklyn skyline.

On Saturday, another reason to be in the Financial District with the New York Super Craft Beef Festival happening at Watermark Bar on South Street. The bar’s home on Pier 15 will host breweries toting more than 75 craft beers and ciders for sampling; the lineup includes Ommegang, Greenport Harbor, Sixpoint and Flagship, among others. Tickets are $60 and include tastes of all the brews, plus food vendors and some pretty dope views of the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.
Summer’s in full swing. You don’t need proof. It’s obvious enough from the sweat you’re working up simply by staring at a computer screen. But if you still aren’t convinced, consider this: it’s now the high season for beer festivals. They’re all around, including two within the New York area this Saturday alone. If you’re a fan of craft brew, you ought to be having a blast this time of year. A Brooklyn Blast!, to be exact. The double IPA from Williamsburg’s original craft brewery is a perfect way to beat the heat, marking it an easy choice as beer of the week.
A perfect time and place to score a pour — or five — is tomorrow afternoon at the Big Brew NY Beer Festival. Craft enthusiasts willing to venture 30 minutes on the Metro-North to Tarrytown will be rewarded with four hours of unlimited tastings of more than 200 beers, backdropped by an historic castle (Lyndhurst Mansion) along the Hudson River. There’lll be live music, gourmet food trucks, and, best of all, a mechanical bull. Because who doesn’t want to be rocked around violently while consuming large amount of alcohol?
The Blast! is undeniably refreshing, surprisingly so for an 8.4%, heavily hopped ale. But if IPAs still aren’t your thing, the Big Brew delivers every style of beer and cider imaginable, most of which are sourced from right here in the tri-state region. A $70 ticket scores you entrance to the event, which kicks off at 1 p.m. And, as a Village Voice reader, you’ll get a $12 discount by entering the code ‘Voice15’ on their website.
Closer to home, but equally soaked in suds, is the New York Super Craft Beer Festival, at the Watermark Bar on Pier 15 of South Street Seaport. This affair is notably smaller, featuring roughly 75 beers on tap, but it’s focused exclusively on the beers and ciders of New York. The 3,500 square foot venue affords unimpeded views of the East River and New York Harbor beyond. For $60, you’ll get three hours of unlimited tasting from 2 – 5 p.m., as well as live entertainment and beer-friendly grub. Tickets can be purchased here.
So if you still haven’t landed on weekend plans, it looks like you’ve got some serious decisions in the near future. Don’t expect things to get any easier as we ascend the mountain that is beer festival season. Grab your hiking boots, and have a Blast.

Union Beer Distributors and Merchant’s Hospitality have paired up for the first New York Super Craft Beer Festival, featuring over 75 rare brews (with an emphasis on local brands). There will also be food and live music, adding to the ambience as you savor your suds while overlooking the East River, with views of two bridges and the Brooklyn skyline.
Bouncing back from Superstorm Sandy, Abraham Merchant unveiled a beer-focused waterfront bar on the restored Pier 15. Try sea-inspired bar bites like lobster rolls, fish-and-chips, crab cakes and shrimp cocktail with heirloom tomato gazpacho. Sip local craft beers on red bar stools as you watch sports games on seven flatscreens or, better yet, take in scenic skyline views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. During the day, the bar also doles out cones of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurt, fit for indulging your inner kid as you soak up rays on the outdoor deck.
